Hike Songota Waterfalls on a day trip, a smaller waterfall not far from Arusha on the slopes of Mount Meru. The hike takes you up from the highway through the landscape, passing coffee, and banana plantations where our guide will explain to you some of the different things that take place in the area. The sort of coffee, bananas, and avocados that are grown in the area.
It is also possible to visit one of the small local schools, and alike in the area (If you do, bring a few school supplies along for the children)
The waterfall is not far from Arusha and is a great way to escape the city with minimal time in transit. In a short 1-hour walk, you will reach the Songota waterfalls. The hilly walk will bring you to a slender cascade surrounded by trees, where you can swim, and wade, remember to wear some sandals with straps as it can be hard to walk out into the waterfall on the stones in the small waterfall lake.
Enjoy a picnic lunch included before returning to Arusha.
When on the excursion from Arusha to the slopes of Mount Meru to the Songota falls, you will also be able to see some of the local wildlife like chameleons, birds, and the occasional monkey as you hike through the forest and cool off in the pool at the base of Songota Waterfall.
This is a beautiful little waterfall, with its principal advantage being its proximity to Arusha. The journey from Arusha is just 7km and takes only 15 minutes. The hike up the slopes takes about 1 hour, and you will usually spend about 1 to 2 hours on the site with a picnic lunch before hiking back down to the main road via another route.
NOTICE: We have 3 different trips to the Songota Waterfalls.
