Start your journey at the Nalemoru Gate, located on the northeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Trek through lush rainforests and marvel at the rich flora and chirping birdlife along the way. As you ascend, keep an eye out for glimps various wildlife species such as colobus monkeys and occasional elephants. Reach Simba Camp at the end of the day and settle in for a well-deserved rest.

Leave Simba Camp behind and continue your adventure along the Rongai Route. Traverse scenic moorlands and heather zones, gradually ascending to higher altitudes. Today's trek takes you through the surreal landscapes of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Experience the dramatic change in scenery as you move closer to the jagged volcanic cones. Witness the striking contrast between the arid desert plains and the glaciated slopes of Mawenzi. Be prepared for an influx of wildlife sightings, such as eland, zebra, and various bird species. Arrive at the mesmerizing Mawenzi Tarn Camp and savor the serene atmosphere of this high-altitude oasis.

Take a well-deserved rest day at Mawenzi Tarn Camp to allow your body to acclimatize to the increasing altitude. Explore the surrounding area and marvel at the panoramic views offered by the campsite. Keep an eye out for hyrax, small mammal-like creatures that inhabit rocky areas. Use the day to recharge and prepare for the upcoming challenging ascent.

As you bid farewell to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, embark on the final leg of your ascent. Traverse the barren lunar landscape towards Kibo Hut, the last campsite before your summit attempt.
